National Cup 1 - Ready to start the season at Basecamp Wanaka.

The team from Basecamp Wanaka, Climbing New Zealand and the Cliffhangers Climbing Club have been working hard over the past weeks to ensure the 2011 Climbing New Zealand National Cup Climbing Series gets off to an outstanding start.
It is exciting for Climbing New Zealand to be returning to the oustanding indoor climbing venue of Wanaka, said Climbing New Zealand President James Maguire.
A national level event was last held in Wanaka in 2007 and a lot has changed at the venue that once hosted the Oceania Climbing Championships.
Climbers have travelled from throughout New Zealand representing six regional associations that span the length of New Zealand.
Without a doubt competitors will be tested with some great climbing routes throughout the weekend.

Christchurch Quake

Our thoughts are with members of our Christchurch based club, the Flying Geckos after the recent earthquake. We are glad to hear that you are safe and sound, despite suffering some damage to homes and facilities.
We look forward to seeing you in Wanaka for some well deserved respite.
On a general note, we have delayed the National Coach applications by a week as a result of this, and also delayed the AGM by a month.
Stay safe everyone.
