About Climbing New Zealand
Climbing New Zealand is the national governing body administering the sport of climbing in New Zealand. This includes bouldering, lead climbing and speed climbing.
We are a non-profit incorporated society which is run by a group of volunteers.
Climbing New Zealand is a proud and founding member of the International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC). We play an active role in the international arena.
Every year Climbing New Zealand runs a series of competitions around the country, including the National Cup Climbing series, National Championships.
Bi-annually, Climbing NZ also hosts the Oceania Championships. This event includes all other member nations of the IFSC that reside in the Oceania region. Our main competition comes from Australia.
Every year we administer a team to compete at various international events. For many young climber the IFSC World Youth Championships is the pinnacle of their sporting year. In addition we have had many competitors at IFSC World Championship events and World Cup Events.
